We made steak, and roasted vegetables, and potatoes with herbs, and Dazai-san picked out the wine!
[She doesn't fully know the significance behind it, but when Dazai had dropped that it was Chuuya's birthday, and he was bothering to make it known that they should do something, well. It doesn't take a genius to know there's something important about it. If nothing else, the look on Chuuya's face makes it all too clear.
A little bit of a wiggle in Dazai's arms, and she's holding out her own. Come here, Chuuya, she's been ordered to give you a hug. Not that she even needs the order, but she'd need her feet to do it herself, so somebody has to meet them halfway.]

With them here, he doesn't have to think about everything back home, the people he still doesn't know the status of, the graves that have gone so long without Chuuya popping by to say 'hi'. He can focus on the good things, the people here that have become a part of his life.
So when Kotone holds her arm out for a hug, Chuuya doesn't hesitate to wrap his arms around her-- and he's small, but he gives good hugs, enthusiastic but gentle. A soft laugh escapes him, delight bubbling up.] Well I'm certainly not going to turn down a hug from you, even if it's in proximity to Dazai.

(it's a little awkward, but he thinks it's cute that this is happening. he won't hug chuuya at all for his birthday, much less in front of kotone - his excuses were ranging from good to mid-range to excellent, but not once did he mention that he cares.
