Character Name: Chuuya Nakahara
Character Canon: Bungo Stray Dogs
Canon Point: chapter 115
Age: 22
Crime: 'Acceptance'.
Background: The wikia for Chuuya , and the novel Storm Bringer, which is basically Chuuya's Backstory, the novel, part 2: Wikia page here.
Personality: What makes a human being?
This is a question that has plagued Chuuya from the moment he woke up in a crater that became Suribachi city at 8 years old, with no memories or roots to speak of.
For a very long time, Chuuya struggled with the concept of his humanity: He wasn't sure what or who he was, only that he was powerful, and contained something even more powerful still. The lack of answers drove him as he built his life from the ground up, fashioning his world from the people around him, and more than once at that.
Thus, Loyalty is the core of Chuuya's identity, and he will do anything for the people he considers his. He will kill, he will steal, he will tear down buildings, he will crush entire organizations with merciless gravity for his 'Family', which he considers the Mafia to be. He's vicious, his morality built in a subjective way. He's never lived a normal blue collar life, and likely never will. His ledger is soaked in blood, and he is unashamed of it. Violence comes naturally to him, and he uses it for the sake of the things that matter most to him.
The true irony is that Chuuya is extremely human, for someone so powerful. He's emotional, and reactive to a degree that can occasionally be comical, easily riled to anger and with little volume control once he gets going. He is far from a self-contained individual in this regard, though there are still aspects of himself he keeps close to his chest.
For all his bluster and violence, a good portion of all this comes from the fact that Chuuya is also someone who cares deeply. He remembers each friend or subordinate lost, he looks out for the people around him. He mourns deeply every friend who falls, burns incense at their graves. And...
Even when betrayed by the gang that was his first family, The Sheep, Chuuya made a deal for their safety, which is how he joined the Mafia. He still sought to protect Shirase, a man who was his 'Brother' from those times, who literally stuck a knife in his back, from Verlaine when he sought to assassinate everyone Chuuya cared for. Even when Dazai has spent years screwing over Chuuya in a wide variety of ways, Chuuya still works with him when needed, still shows genuine concern over his injuries moments after ranting angrily about how he'd love to crush his skull. Once Chuuya has a bond with someone, he cannot carve it out: even if it would be better for his life or his heart. Once he is attached, enmeshed with someone, he can accept almost anything.
He's terribly human, for a living weapon. For someone who will never know with 100% certainty if he was born human, the product of a government experiment who erased any chance of recalling his past for a chance to protect the home he loved.
But so what? What makes a human, anyway?
Abilities: Chuuya's primary ability is For the tainted sorrow, an ability that allows him to manipulate the gravity of anything he touches at will with devastating efficiency, including his own body. Punches can make craters, walls can be crushed. He can halt bullets in their path or deflect projectiles. This is the power level he normally operates at, and while powerful, it isn't quite game breaking.
Corruption however is a different beast. Upon speaking a specific trigger phrase, Chuuya enters a state in which his full power as a self-contained singularity is unleashed: Chuuya enters a wild berserker state, able to manipulate the gravity of his surroundings and even create small black holes. Powerful, like a walking natural disaster, but the crux of this state is this: Chuuya cannot disengage it, without help. He will rage until he dies, destroying everything in his path until his body expires (a matter of a handful of minutes).
That is why Chuuya will only use it in a do or die situation, when there are no options left. That is also why he will never use it unless someone is around who can put a lid on his power: In canon this is Dazai Osamu, a rare ability nullifier and his ex-partner in the Port Mafia.
I am okay with the mods nerfing Corruption in whatever way they see fit, since it can cause a significant amount of destruction in spite of Chuuya's reluctance to use it.
Inventory: A knife, his clothes, his hat, some fake vampire fangs. He unfortunately is not wearing his fancy mafioso outfit at his canonpoint.
Samples: Chuuya tdm with multiple threads from his first time around
