[he shrugs, smiling wryly.]

Not that I'd know, but I can't imagine it's a fun thing to sense coming from a guy, right? [Honestly, he isn't sure how that would feel except 'scary'.] And for the longest time as a kid, I wondered about my humanity, if the 'me' that existed was only a shell, a safety device. I've long realized otherwise, but it's still nice to be acknowledged.

It is, isn't it?

[ She knows. ]

Was there anything you wanted to ask me?

[ There's another question sitting on the tip of her tongue, but she holds it or the moment. ]

It is.

[He reaches up to fiddle with one of the feathers in her hair, smoothing his thumb over the edge of it gently. It's become something of a habit recently, and with her in his arms it's easy enough to fall into it once again.]

...Honestly, I was going to ask you the same thing. You've got to have some other questions, right?

[ Her breath hitches with that contact, her pupils dilating just so. She has other questions, she does, but the one that jumps to the forefront of her mind with his thumb smoothing the edge of that feather is -- ]

You said you're sturdier... than a regular human?

Hm...? Yeah, at least I figure I am. Part of that might be that my ability to manipulate gravity requires it, the rest is how they made the whole Arahabaki thing work. I've always been a bit stronger and sturdier than the average guy.

[He notes the way her breath hitches, but he hasn't quite connected the dots as to why she's asking.]

Using corruption puts a strain on the body. Literally rips it apart, really. From what I know, they had to 'tailor' my system so I could survive even using the power without turning myself into goo. [What a pleasant mental image.] Still pretty much half kills me, but I'm built for my abilities and can handle more than most.

[Ability users tended to be built to suit their abilities in one way or another.]

[ She shifts in his lap just enough to put her glass of wine down beside the bed. Just enough and quickly because he's warm and she's comfortable; though, she does pause, think better of it, and take a brief moment to drain her glass in its entirety before she puts it down and returns to her place.

And if she shifts a bit more once she's in his lap, well, that is intentional. Surely he won't have any trouble keeping his glass from spilling? ]

I'm pretty sure I've never fucked anyone hard enough to turn them into goo. Broken some bones, though. [ Among other things. ]

They always say they can handle it.

[He lets out a bark of laugh at that, amused.]

Are you telling me you've been holding back, pretty bird?

[He won't have any trouble keeping his glass from spilling because he's setting it down, his focus more on that admission from the lovely woman in his lap.]

Can't believe you've been holding out on me all this time.

[His hand comes up instead to brush against her cheek, her chin-- tilting her head towards him so she can see the heated smile curling on his lips.]

We'll have to fix that, won't we? Because now I've got to see you let loose.
